Privacy Policy
Effective November 1, 2026 · Last updated November 1, 2026
This policy explains what OpenBidMap (“we”) collects on openbidmap.com, why, and your choices. The short version: you can browse without an account, we collect very little, and we don't sell or share your personal information.
What we collect
- Early-access / alert sign-up: your email address, the plan you're interested in, and the filters you choose (states, counties, work types, keywords).
- Feedback form: the text you write, and your role and email only if you choose to give them.
- Hashed IP address: when you submit a form, we store a one-way hash of your IP address (not the address itself) to limit spam and abuse. Rate-limit counters expire after one hour; the hash is also kept with your submission.
- Basic request data: for feedback, your browser type (user agent), the page you came from and an approximate country from our hosting provider.
- Hosting logs: our host, Cloudflare, processes standard request data (such as IP address, browser and pages requested) to deliver and protect the site, under Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- Paid plans (once launched): payments will be handled by a payment processor. We'll receive your email, plan and payment status, never your full card number.
Cookies and browser storage
We don't use advertising or analytics cookies, and we don't set cookies of our own. Your watchlist, saved views and light/dark setting are stored only in your own browser (localStorage) and never sent to us; clearing your browser data removes them. Cloudflare may set strictly necessary security cookies to protect the site from attacks.
How we use it
To run the Service; to send the alerts you sign up for and tell you when they launch; to read and act on your feedback and reply if you asked us to; to prevent spam and abuse; and to comply with the law. We don't use your information for advertising.
Do not sell or share
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We don't share it with advertisers or data brokers. We share it only with service providers that help us run the Service (Cloudflare for hosting and storage; an email delivery provider and a payment processor once alerts and paid plans launch), who may use it only to provide their services to us, or when the law requires.
How long we keep it
- Sign-up profiles: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
- Feedback: up to 24 months, then deleted or anonymized.
- Rate-limit counters: about one hour.
- Hosting logs: per Cloudflare's retention.
Your rights and choices
You can ask us to access, correct or delete your personal information, or to unsubscribe, at any time through our feedback form (include your email so we can reply). Every alert email will have a one-click unsubscribe link. We may need to confirm your request comes from the email address involved.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA) and residents of other US states with privacy laws: you have the right to know what personal information we collect, use and disclose; to access it; to correct it; to delete it; and to opt out of its sale or sharing (we don't sell or share it). We don't collect sensitive personal information and we won't treat you differently for using your rights. You can use an authorized agent; we may ask for proof of authorization. Categories collected in the last 12 months: identifiers (email address, hashed IP), commercial information (plan interest), internet activity (form submissions, user agent) and inferences: none. Sources: you, and your browser. Purposes: as described above.
Children
The Service is for adults and businesses. It isn't directed to children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you think a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Security and where data is stored
Data is stored with Cloudflare and may be processed in the United States and other countries where Cloudflare operates. We use reasonable safeguards, but no service is perfectly secure.
Outside the United States
The Service is currently run from the United States for US bids. Before we launch coverage and sign-ups aimed at Canada, Mexico or other countries, we'll update this policy for those countries' privacy laws (for example Canada's PIPEDA and Mexico's federal data-protection law).
Changes
We'll post any changes here and update the date above. For material changes we'll post a notice on the site (and email subscribers once alerts exist).
